Depending on what characters you are looking for, there are many in the discount comics sections of not only the stores but on the internet. The prices online can go as low as $0.74 per issue. The discount prices usually come with a disclaimer or limiting the amount you can purchase.
Personally my favorite discount comics that I find are at the local comic book store. Downtown in a very poor section, there is this little store. The owner is a comic book fanatic. He is so cool. He knows everything about almost every comic book ever made. It has become his life. But that is a different story.
I like his organization on how he did it. All the DC comics in one area while Marvel in another. The better kept ones are in plasticsleeves but all of them are in alphabetical order by character. My favorite is Conan the Barbarian. I use the excuse that the art work is great. But I admit I read them. The art work is great and I have drawn many of the panels, but I really like the story lines.
The prices at his store are as low as $0.10 while there are a few at $49.99. I pay on average about $2.00 per copy. I read them, draw the pics I really like then exchange them. He gives me $1.50 per comic I have purchase when I return them. That is usual, he has to make a living somehow and $0.50 to read a comic book is still cheaper than buying them new.
There is a discount comic rack in the store where all of them are below $0.25. Some have pages missing and are in really bad shape, but the poorer kids still buy them. Once in awhile I give him $5.00 and take a stack to the kids in the projects. That is only half a block away. These are the kids that really enjoy the discount comics. It’s a small price to bring joy to a child.
I was sorting my art work into large plastic sleeves and noticed several of them had tiny little razor marks on them…I couldn’t work out what they were until I came across Purrly making a big mess of my already messy piles. She had decided that the plastic sleeves were made for slide-attack!…
Using a printable grocery list is a smart way to save time and money. Here are my top tricks for getting the most out of any grocery list.
– Customize it.
Most printable grocery lists are quite generic so as to be usable by a wide variety of shoppers. That’s fine, however, for maximum efficiency you’ll want to customize your grocery list to include the items you regularly shop for. Do this the first time you use a new list.
– Keep it easy.
Next, there are a couple of options you’ll want to consider.
1. One option is to print off multiple blank copies of your printable grocery list after you finish customizing it. Keep your copies in a folder in your kitchen so you can conveniently grab a new copy whenever you need one.
2. Conversely, you can print off just one copy of your customized grocery list and drop that copy into a clear plasticsleeve. By doing so you instantly make your grocery list laminated. Just use a dry-erase marker and you can use your printable grocery list again and again.
– Go hi-tech.
Have a personal data assistant (pda)? Then you might like a downloadable grocery list better than a printed copy. A quick online search for “pda grocery list” yields positive results.
– Train the crew.
The biggest challenge with any grocery list is getting everyone in a household to use it. After all, what good is a grocery list that’s not ready to go shopping when you are? If you have multiple people in a household, there’s no way that just one person can know everything that needs to go on a grocery list.
So have a family meeting. Point out where you are posting your printable grocery list and let people know that if they want things from the grocery store they need to mark them on the list.
Remember, you’re still in charge of the list! Just because an item is on your list doesn’t mean you MUST buy it. You have a budget (hopefully!) and it’s up to the grocery shopper to make any final shopping decisions.
Nevertheless, it’s much simpler to cross something off a grocery list than it is to read the minds of all the family members. In our household, the grocery list ‘rules’ are quite simple. If you open the last of something, write it on the list or it won’t be there the next time you hungrily go looking for it. Our system has served us well for years.
– Make your grocery list accessible.
All the training in the world won’t work if the grocery list is not accessible to everyone who has a need to write on it. For example, do you have small children? I have a 7 year old who loves to have her say by adding items to the grocery list, so the list is kept where she can reach it. An added bonus is that a grocery list is a great place for budding spellers to practice their skills. (For a free printable grocery list, see the author’s resource box following this article.)
– The most important step.
Sometimes I hear shoppers moan that they did fine compiling a list at home but they can’t seem to remember to take the grocery list to the store with them. I suspect we’ve all had that happen to us at some time.
This is a point worth pondering. Without the list, your shopping can easily blow your budget as well as take much longer than it should. So take a minute and think about how you can always insure that your printable grocery list goes with you to the grocery store. Write yourself a reminder note on your calendar or schedule, get a key ring that reminds you of your list, whatever it takes to jog your memory. For myself, I have one place I promise myself to check before I walk out the door. Shopping lists and anything else that needs to go with me go in that one place.
A printable grocery list WILL save you time and money, but only if you keep the list handy to use and encourage its usage by all family members. In fact, a grocery list is one of the smartest tools you can use in your arsenal to run a well-managed home.
Do you have all that you want in your life or are you still finding your way? Well a good place to start to help you get to where you want to go is to build a Vision Board. Think of all the things you want to accomplish in your life, the relationships you want to have, the places you want to visit, or the health and body of your dreams. Whatever you want in your life you can create a vision board to help direct and guide you until the vision becomes a reality.
There are many online programs that can help you build a digital vision board, but I still like making my own with pictures and words from magazines on a piece of poster board that I can hang in my office and see every day to remind me of what I want for my life.
A friend of mine has a vision journal. She bought a spiral notebook and filled the pages with her vision for various areas of her life. The great thing about a vision journal is that she can add new pictures and words as she discovers other areas of her life that she wants to focus on and achieve a certain goal. Another friend of mine has a binder with plasticsleeves that she inserts pictures of her goals. She has a section in the back of the binder called “completed” where she moves the sleeve to when her dream/goal has been realized.
Remember that the main focus for creating a vision board should be about what motivates you and what you want to create in your life. If you don’t have a specific goal in mind or you aren’t sure where you want to go with your life, then start by building your board board that expresses who you are and makes you feel good about yourself. As time goes on you will find new areas of your life that you want to focus on and you can add or build a new vision board for that dream.
Getting started is the easy part. You need a poster board to glue your pictures on which you can find at most stationery stores. You will also need lots of old magazines, a good pair of scissors and a glue stick. Pretty simple! If you want to get creative you can buy stickers, different colored pens or even lace and other items to personalize your board. The purpose of a vision board is to engage the Law of Attraction. In order to focus on your dreams on a regular basis you will want to put the vision board where you can see it every day. This way you can keep your eye on the goals and dreams and you will find that you make choices each day that will lead you to achieve your vision.
Even though laser tattoo removal is the most safe, most effective plastic surgery treatment available, there still is the risk of leaving a lifetime scar in the removal area. The pros are your best bet and will cause the least likely damage your skin tissue area. Talk long and hard with the institute for reconstructive surgery that you decide on to set your mind at ease. Bring a list of questions with you. They are used to be drilled with questions upon consultation.
The overwhelmingly popular act of tattooing the body has spread across the globe as a hallmark of entering adulthood. Teens anxiously wait the time when they can legally get tattooed and parents try their best to warn their teens of the consequences of their actions. Many studios see individuals come into the parlor with a set idea of getting another person’s name inked into their skin. All the artist can do is shake their head in silence and remind them the only way to lose the ink later is through laser tattoo removal.
Much like ranch owners that brand their cattle so they can be identified, so too do gangs. Gang leaders want each member to be tattooed as a way of identification. But for those who want to escape the trials of gang life, their tattoos are a constant reminder to themselves and the world that the guns and violence are not far away. There is hope though. Laser tattoo removal is a way many professionals are donating their time and money to help ex-gang members leave their past behind. It cannot heal what is on the inside but it can get rid of the outward reminders.
The process of tattooing the skin is not the sole property of a licensed tattoo studio or parlor. Many tattoo’s that later undergo laser tattoo removal are homemade tattoos done in someone’s home. These primitive and low quality tattoos are often the most difficult to remove due to the application under which they are applied. The homemade tattoo machine is similar to the professional one used in the studio. It is the tattoo artist that is different. One person has training and chances are the other does not. The untrained operator often goes too deep into the dermis (skin) of the person. The laser tattoo removal then becomes very expensive.
Laser tattoo removal is the application process of a specialized laser to the skin surface. The laser burns the layers of skin and after a few applications, depending on the depth of the ink, the tattoo is removed. The actual procedure is a beam of light directed at the pigments of the tattoo. After breaking apart the body’s immune system does the actual removing.
Black dyes are the easiest to remove because they absorb all wavelengths. Colors such as green, red and yellow must have selective wavelength used that are specific to their spectrum.

Are you tired of fighting with your spouse over who-does-what chore every night after work?
Or has it gone farther than that and you have stopped talking about household stuff altogether in your marriage?
This is a hot issue in today’s fast-paced culture. We’ve added a lot to our lives over the past generation but many of our tasks remain the same. No matter how many interesting opportunities come along, the house still has to be cleaned, the dishes still must be done and the laundry still needs to be kept up with (although I’m not sure it needs to be folded!).
Many people use a checklist system at their jobs to keep on task and stay productive. Why not use the same thinking at home with your household chores?
– Use a household chores checklist to maintain division of work.
For example…
* He fills and empties the dishwasher on Tuesday and Thursday and she takes care of it on Monday and Wednesday. Weekends they use paper and plastic and forget they have a dishwasher.
* She sorts and assembles laundry throughout the week into multiple hampers and when he spots a full hamper due to her efforts he sends that load through the washer and dryer. They fold together, right before bed.
* She is responsible for dinners three times a week and he is responsible three times a week. The seventh night they figure out dinner together, whether it’s snacking or a restaurant. Each Sunday evening they look at the household checklist together and choose the nights that work best that week for each of them.
All of the above is kept track of on the chores checklist. Slip it into a plasticsleeve and use a dry-erase marker so you can wipe it clean each week and begin again with ease.
– Use a household chores checklist as a log of actual work completed.
If there’s an argument in your home over who is actually doing the most work, use a household checklist to discover the facts. Simply jot down who does what for a solid month. Put dates and times, too. Then you can tally up the clear winner.
But be gentle. Sometimes seeing the ‘truth’ can be a real shocker. It’s a little like discovering you overeat by a thousand calories a day when you genuinely believed you were eating sensibly.
– Make household chores a game.
Attach some real prizes to your household chores checklist and see if you can motivate both of you to get on top of the daily household duties. Make a big deal about checking things off the list.
Really, this is about developing habits as everything is more difficult when you’re not used to doing it. But get in a groove with an activity and it’s no big deal at all.
Without a doubt, the most efficient way to handle your household chores is to make them a habit. Instead of spending the energy arguing about it, why not use that same energy to see if the chores can be streamlined and shortened. Are there tools or resources that would help both of you get the job done better and faster? Then seriously consider those helps. And remember, your upfront costs need to be weighed against your long term gain.
Do yourself a favor and get really tired of arguing about this common marital frustration and use simple tools like a household chores checklist to develop a system that will finally work in your situation.
At the very least, you’ll learn methods of becoming more efficient yourself and that will help you get your part done faster. If both spouses give this a try the benefits can be amazing.
Not everybody is blessed with a house and garden plot or lives in the country with access to farming land, so the option for a garden leave alone a kitchen garden, is a fairly remote one. But, if you put on your thinking cap, you can have a fresh and economical option of growing your own veggies in the privacy of your home – by using cost-effective gardening containers for growing vegetables from seeds and seedlings bought from the local nursery or even ordered from a mail-order or online catalogue.
For those that live in flats and hostels, the need to grow their own vegetables may be limited due to space constraints, but the readily available gardening containers in many different sizes and materials make having a kitchen garden less of a dream and more of a possibility for people with the smallest budget. There are also a variety of indoor gardening plants and vegetables you can bring for your home cooking needs, which only require a few hours of sunlight that they can have access to while hung in the balcony or even in your window-sill planter box. These include herbs, peppers, bush beans, salad greens, bush and cherry tomatoes and baby carrots.
Of course, depending on the vegetable variety you do purchase and the size they grow to, you will need to purchase a planter pot that is ready for holding the full-sized plant, so choose with care. For example, tomatoes are grown one per pot while a big size pot can hold 3-4 pepper plants besides basil herb around it in small quantity. This is typical of 5 gallon pots.
Other containers you can use for your gardening needs include tubs, buckets and barrels cut in half (distillery ones) ranging from 5 to 15 liters. However, you need to keep in mind that if you are also intending to plant herbs in addition to the vegetables in the pots, you need to ascertain that the ones you buy are at least 10 inches in diameter so spring onions, for example, planted in the pot, also hold space for rosemary or thyme.
You need to also invest in a drainage tray (even plastic ones will do) that will allow for proper leaching from time to time so the pots get enough water, sunlight and there is a measure for extra water to leak out too. Do remember to line the bottom of the pot with some pieces of rocks or broken crockery besides a few layers of newspaper before putting in potting soil to prevent the fine soil from seeping out from the drainage holes.
Use well-rotted compost, adequate potting soil till an inch or two below the rim, water plants regularly and also give plant food twice as often as outdoor plants would need as dehydration occurs more rapidly for indoor plants.
Industrial shrink wrap protects and groups products during shipment. The shrink wrap film is plastic and, when heated, it shrinks and conforms to the products’ shapes to protect them from dirt, moisture, and damage in transport. Different types of shrink wrap film as well as different types of shrink wrap machines are available for the different needs of companies that use shrink wrap.
Smaller, portable machines are used by artists to wrap their paintings for a professional look that protects the art. These shrink wrap machines start around $200. Larger, more expensive and electronic shrink wrap machines are used to seal items like letters, boxes, linens, and videogames, either individually or in bulk. These shrink wrap machines can cost up to $35,000, and can process hundreds of items an hour.
The type of shrink wrap equipment needed depends on the size of the item to be shrink wrapped and how fast it needs to be wrapped. Some machines are designed to package items small like CDs; other machines package large boxes. Some machines can package a few items an hour, others hundreds. The larger, faster machines must often be permanently installed, whereas the smaller, slower, and cheaper shrink wrap machines can be easily moved.
There are several types of shrink wrap sealers.
Straight bar sealers seal items like CDs, DVDs, and videotapes. A separate heat gun shrinks the film. These can process only a few items per hour.
L-Bar sealers seal and cut the film in one movement. Electricity, not heat, cut the plastic, so the machines do not produce smoke. They use Polyolefin film.
Mail bagging systems can order and pack several boxes.
Continuous band sealers seal packages continuously and are useful for containing easily spilled items.
Sleeve wrappers can handle many package shapes.
Vacuum sealers remove the air from a package before sealing it and passing it through a heat tunnel to shrink the film.
The film can be shrunk with a small, hand-held heat gun, or a heat tunnel with a conveyor belt.
